Cheeks Family Website v2.0 – Major New Release
Released on August 19, 2026.
This is a major new release comprised of both external, visible updates and internal, core component updates:
External, visible updates
- The Contact Support webpage is now fully functional, allowing you to send comments, questions, etc. to the CFS Administrator. The completed, submitted contact form information is emailed to the administrator for review and response. Note: The “Message” portion of the form is automatically expandable, so you are not limited by the initial, visible space.
- The support webpage utilizes Cloudflare’s Turnstile to ensure form submission from a human and not an internet “bot”. If the Turnstile functionality cannot verify your browser connection automatically, you will be requested to “check the box” that you are human 😊 before the support form can be submitted.
- Significant updates to the format of the photo galleries accessed via the Public Access area.
- All thumbnails (small version of each photo that is selected to to display the full-size photo) are now equal size and if a cursor is placed over (hover) the thumbnail, the image will rise slightly and be outlined with a shadow, giving a visual cue indicating your choice.
- The full-sized photos, displayed after selecting a thumbnail, have been configured so that the full-sized photo is scaled for the screen size (tablet/laptop/desktop) you are using.
- Image scaling has been successfully tested with 6” and 10” tablet screens, a 17” laptop screen and a 34” workstation screen.
- If the full-sized image “overflows” your screen, contact me via the Contact Support webpage.
- The Legacy Facebook Page content has been updated, thanks to Mark Cheeks, with photos from a Cheeks Family Reunion held in the 80s at McGraft Park in Muskegon, Michigan.
- The Cheeks Family System owns the following five internet domains: Cheeks-Family.us, Cheeks-Family.dev, Cheeks-Family.net, Cheeks-Family.org and Cheeks-Family.com.
- Cheeks-Family.us is the location of the production website you are currently using.
- Cheeks-Family.dev and Cheeks-Family.net are the two development domains where all design, implementation and initial testing is done. If you access either of those domains, the home page will display your location and provide a link to the production domain/website.
- Cheeks-Family.org and Cheeks-Family.com are “parked” domains. If you access either of those domains, a message will display your location and ten (10) seconds later you will automatically be transferred to the production domain/website.
- The home webpage (index) and all of the webpages in the Public Access area have been standardized for title/text placement and utilizing a “linen” single color colorway (monochromatic). “Linen” is the light tan/cream background color of each webpage. With the exception of links/buttons, all text and most highlighting are a member color of the “linen” colorway. The remaining portions of the website will be updated to this format, a branch at a time.
Internal, core updates
- A new, comprehensive, single JavaScript engine to implement and maintain the redesigned photo galleries. The new engine will allow an unlimited number of thumbnail/full-sized photo combinations (within reason) per webpage over an unlimited number of webpages without requiring any additional engine code.
- A separate, new JavaScript engine to implement the Cloudflare Turnstile functionality and validation of correct format for email addresses and phone numbers, prior to form submission.
