Cheeks Family System (CFS) Membership Information

There are two types of CFS memberships available.

  1. Cheeks Family Website Membership
Cheeks Family Website membership provides access to the private Relatives Only area of the website.
  2. Cheeks Family Facebook Group Membership
Cheeks Family Facebook Group membership provides access to a rules-based, curated “safe space” for Cheeks relatives to keep in touch virtually and share family-related information.

Both types of membership are open to all Cheeks relatives.
Click on the appropriate link above for further details about membership and to submit a membership request.

Cheeks Family Website

You are using the current version of the Cheeks Family Website.

The What’s New in The CFS webpage will list the release date of this current version and any updates included in this version.

All previous versions of the website will also be listed in chronological order, newest to oldest.

In addition, any changes, reorganization, etc. to the Cheeks Family Facebook Group will be listed on that webpage, again in chronological order.

You may access that webpage with the above link or the What’s New in The CFS subtab in the above About the CFS tab.

Will the Cheeks Family Website display appropriately on a mobile phone?.

The current family website version only supports tablet, laptop and desktop/workstation displays (approximately more than 3 inches wide). The current version will adjust how it appears dependent upon the width of those display types.

A Cheeks Family Website version that specifically supports mobile phone displays (approximately less than 3 inches wide) will be available early this fall (2026).

Meanwhile, the current version of the website will display on a mobile phone but "your mileage will vary" 😉 depending phone operating system (Android, iOS/iPhone, etc.) and browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc.).

Note:  When you first access the website, the website code determines the display width of your device (phone, tablet, etc.) and if you are holding in portrait (tall) or landscape (wide) mode. Then the appropriate website display code is executed.

Cheeks Family Facebook Group

Walter Sr. and Idella Cheeks are my maternal grandparents.

A Facebook personal account was required to be established in order to create our Facebook family group, W&I Cheeks Family.

The required personal Facebook account was created using my grandfather’s name, Walter Cheeks Sr. That approach allows an easier transition of administration for the family Facebook group without changing the required Facebook personal account with each transition of administrative responsibility.

The “Walter Cheeks Sr.” Facebook account will be maintained as a “static” account. That means that no one will be able to add new posts, comment on the existing posts, or join as Facebook “friends”. That is because the account only to serve as the personal Facebook account required to create a Facebook Family Group.

Whenever I post any informational or administrative items to the family Facebook Group, those posts will appear from that Facebook account, labeled as “Walter” or “Walter Cheeks Sr.” with my grandfather’s profile picture.

The W&I prefix in our family Facebook Group name represents Walter Sr. and Idella. That naming convention was necessary to create a unique name because there are several other Cheeks family Facebook groups and pages that use Cheeks Family as part of their name.

"Visible” means that the group can be found with a search from a Facebook login using W&I Cheeks Family as the search target.

“Private” defines how membership to the group is accomplished. Group membership is limited to Cheeks relatives who have an active Facebook personal login and can verify their family relationship to the Cheeks family. Details about family relationship verification are available on the family website.

The private, family Facebook group configuration establishes a rules-based, curated “safe space” for identified Cheeks relatives, of all ages, to keep in touch virtually and share family-related information.
